A Good Incision

I want everyone to know what a top-quality surgery incision looks like.

The picture above is for scale. The dark spot is the incision.

Here’s the close-up. It’s a small incision, about 2 cm long, with no visible external sutures. I’ve use this technique and it’s a little more difficult than others but it gives the best closure possible. Note that there’s only a slight bruise visible which is completely normal and actually is usually worse. This indicates tissue handling (with forceps) that is extremely gentle and thoughtful. Just going by Kiki’s lively demeanor I can tell everything on the inside is as it should be surgically speaking.

Keep these things in mind for the next time your dog goes for surgery.
