Project Belgian Helmet has begun.
Ozzy stayed frozen for five minutes with his head wrapped first in plastic, and then in clay. Ozzy loves to work, and I got the sense that he knew this was somehow important.
He got a small bowl full of liver. The clay impression is going to air dry overnight. So far, it's holding its shape, but I also reinforced the clay with solid core wire bent to fit.
If this works, I can make a plaster cast from this clay impression, refine it with additional sculpting using contour gauges, and go from there to vacuum forming and latex forms, but I still have to build the machine to do that. The finished item is a ways off yet, but this is a good first step.
